Art Crawl 07

Cart Crawl 07

We hope that in the future we will run an Art Crawl every year until we leave University because by then we are hoping to expand and start to turn it into a business. We hope that we can turn Art Crawl into a national exhibition where student artists and known artists can exhibit for a week at a time in different cities.

We also hope to expand out of bars for the larger exhibitions but remain in the bars for the local student exhibitions that students will be able to enter. We will run this just like we have done this year but with hopefully the added benefit of invest via funding and sponsorships from businesses and companies.

We also hope to grow into a gallery at some point with a book shop and coffee/wine bar attached with the opinion of studio lets as well.

Overall we are very passionate about Art Crawl becoming a success but most of all that we can in some way bring art out of the galleries and studios to the community that maybe don’t get to experience this type of culture. Community to us is very important and we have quickly realised that the community is willing to help us out so we want to take this chance and see it through to regenerate our environment.

Art Crawl 08

Art Crawl 2008 followed on from last year’s successful shows. I decided to go out into the community and asked local bars if they wouldn’t mind hosting the art exhibitions again. I soon found that a lot of the bars were still interested and so Art Crawl 2008 was born again.

Currently within my practice I am focusing on the use of stop frame animation in order to experiment in film techniques as well as cinematic techniques. My practice at the moment is centred on cinematic styles and the interpretations of old into new then the transition back to old style projection. To link in to these cinematic concepts I have decided to experiment with old Cine Movie Cameras, I would quite like to look into altering the film roll after filming my pieces so that I can work on the film using Lo-technology juxtaposed against the Hi-technology.
I have moved my working medium into the discipline of film and film installation, where I am currently working with the concept of using Hi-technology to create Lo-technology but while doing this also experimenting with the issues of old and new technology, and how that is being used more in contemporary art world.
